Mitch Cohen is Of Counsel at the Law Offices of Kotlar Hernandez and Cohen, where he directs the firm’s Real Estate & Corporate Law practice areas. Mr. Cohen is also spearheading the development of the firm’s interdisciplinary and dynamic Alternative and Renewable Energy practice group. He represents real estate clients in acquisition, development and funding matters and corporate clients in all aspects of business-related matters and transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, plant and product expansion, succession planning and divestitures.
Mr. Cohen has served as counsel to retail, office, industrial and residential developers throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania with respect to acquisitions, dispositions, land use, financing, construction, leasing and property management matters. In this arena, Mr. Cohen has represented lenders, large national REITS, small developers and equity funding sources. Mr. Cohen brings into his representation of real estate clients his years of experience as a real estate developer including his role as CEO and a principal of Cohen Development Group LLC, a commercial real estate development company based in Marlton, New Jersey.
As legal counsel to developers, lenders and contractors, and in his role as an active real estate developer, Mr. Cohen has had extensive experience in the government relations aspects of land use matters. He has worked closely with municipalities and state and federal agencies, and has had significant experience with governmental funding programs.
Mr. Cohen has particular experience in corporate financing, including senior debt, mezzanine and equity funding, as well as workout and restructuring financing. He has represented development international oil and refining companies, transportation companies, high-tech and biotech companies, medical service providers, solar energy development companies, equity funds and national lenders. Mr. Cohen also represents clients engaged in or considering business ventures in emerging green energy fields such as solar, wind, geothermal, cogeneration, biofuels and biomass. His clients include solar and other alternative energy developers, EPC contractors, energy consultants and renewable energy funding sources. Most recently, Mr. Cohen was appointed General Counsel to the New Jersey Renewable Energy Coalition. Mitch is also Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CrossMark Funding, LLC, a Radnor, PA based merchant banking firm that assists entrepreneurs and growth and mature companies in expansion capital equity funding and financing, sell side transactions and acquisition targeting and funding. CrossMark represents companies in the forefront of their industries, including the real estate, information technology, healthcare, military, entertainment and retail sectors.
The CrossMark executive team includes attorneys, accomplished entrepreneurs, analysts and researchers and marketing and public relations specialists. Mitch brings to CrossMark his years of experience as a real estate and renewable energy developer and as a partner in a national oral pharmaceutical company and a nursing home industry healthcare company.
